We are excited to share with you our plan for this year’s girls play!  The performing arts allow children an avenue for self expression and creativity through rehearsing and performing a show collaboratively. For many children, the desire to participate in a program where their voices are heard, they can act silly or serious, share their thoughts and feelings all the while learning to dance, sing and act is so important right now. Children miss spending time with friends in other cohorts and different grades. Our newly restructured program will provide just that.

We are moving our program entirely online through Zoom. The program will still provide all of the elements of our fantastic theater program but from the comfort and safety of your own home. As the weather begins to turn colder and outdoor clubs and play come to end, our program will begin to fill that void.

We will be performing a play designed to be rehearsed from home, filmed and edited into a film. We will have a huge movie premiere, where the entire school community (women, girls and young boys) will tune in to see your daughter’s performance. This show provides all girls in grades 2-8 a special moment to shine. Each student will be cast in a named role, with lines.

We will structure rehearsals using the Zoom Breakout Room feature to provide small group and individual instruction. We will also meet as a full cast to play drama games and work on acting skills. Students will also learn how to film a self tape, play to the camera as film actors do and have tons of fun!

The show is being chosen right now and will be shared soon!  It is a show which was written to be Rehearsed and Performed Remotely!  We plan to rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  We will begin after the new year and present the show in the spring.

Here is the plot:

Alice in Cyberland brilliantly captures the nonsensical zaniness of Wonderland, transporting the fun to an online world.  Procrastinating on her homework, Alice falls asleep as she plays solitaire on her computer and is awoken by a white rabbit.  As the fuzzy bunny rushes off, the Cheshire Cat appears, informing Alice with a smile that she is now in Cyberland.  Alice learns that she must find the dreaded Queen of Hearts in order to learn the password that will allow her to regain control of her computer.  But everyone she meets along the way — a caterpillar, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and a duchess — tells her that she doesn’t want to meet the Queen of Hearts!  When Alice finally encounters the Queen, her majesty accuses the visitor of stealing her password and puts her on trial in a most ridiculous manner.

We are excited to announce a brand new theater program designed for middle school boys. This program will offer your sons an avenue for self-expression and creativity through rehearsing and performing a show collaboratively. For many children, the desire to participate in a program where their voices are heard, they can act silly or serious, share their thoughts and their feelings all the while learning to express themselves through acting is so important right now. Children miss spending time with friends in other cohorts and different grades. Our new program will provide just that.

This program is entirely online through Zoom. The program will still provide all of the elements of our fantastic theater program, schools know and love but from the comfort and safety of your own home. As the weather begins to turn colder and outdoor clubs and play come to end, our program will begin to fill that void.

We will be performing a brand new show designed to be rehearsed from home, filmed and edited into a film. We will have a huge movie premiere, where the entire school community will tune in to see your son’s performance. This show provides all boys in grades 6-8 a special moment to shine.

We will structure rehearsals using the Zoom Breakout Room feature to provide small group and individual instruction. We will also meet as a full cast to play drama games and work on acting skills. Students will also learn how to film a self tape, play to the camera as film actors do and have tons of fun!

The show is called “Do You Read Me?”, a play written to be rehearsed and performed remotely!  We plan to rehearse on Mondays and Wednesdays.  We will begin after the new year and present the show in the spring.

Here is the plot:

Everyone at NASA thinks that Dr. Weaver's Mars colony is a joke, because it's full of average joes instead of astronauts. Their mission? To grow the first eggplant on Mars. As Dr. Weaver takes reports from the self-appointed experts, disappointed sci-fi fans, and customer service nightmares that inhabit the colony under the leadership of the arrogant Commander, the mission starts to seem impossible. But could there be more to the story than they're letting on? Written especially for actors to perform on video chat, Do You Read Me? is a space comedy about community.
