9:30-10:15- Rising Stars- (Pk, K, 1st grades) $325
Each week in this creative drama class students will activate their imaginations to explore the basics of storytelling and self-expression. By learning to speak confidently and collaborate with their peers, students will transform into theater artists right before your eyes. Students will investigate the world of a cherished children’s book and create an original performance piece inspired by the story and amplified by students’ imaginations. Students will present their work on the final day to friends and family.
10:30-11:15- Broadway Musical Junior- (2nd-3rd grades) $325
Students will rehearse songs and scenes from popular Broadway musicals. Each week students will warm up and play theater games, learn music, choreography and scene work working towards a sharing day on the final day of class for family and friends.
11:30-12:30- Musical Theater Explorers- (4th-5th grades) $365
Students will rehearse a mini version of a popular Broadway musical while learning to be a “triple threat” (singer/dancer/actor). Each class will include opportunities to warm up, play theater games, learn music, choreography and scene work. Students will be working towards a sharing day on the final day of class for family and friends.
12:45-1:45- Take the Stage (grades 6-8) $365
Each week in this acting class, students will develop their acting techniques through a variety of theater exercises and ensemble activities that will help them think on their feet, work collaboratively, and gain confidence in performance. With the guidance of a professional director, students will craft truthful, compelling performances from a variety of contemporary scripted works. Students will present their work on the final day of the class to friends and family.
2:00-3:00- Act the Song (grades 7-12) $365
In this class students will explore song interpretation and performance as well as the use of rhythm, movement, and acting techniques to create a powerful and dynamic performance. Students will focus on how to find clues in the music and lyrics to interpret each song. Students will work to balance correct vocal technique and sound production. This class will cover a wide range of musical theatre repertoire while also teaching acting techniques for turning a song and role into a truthful, authentic, meaningful, and vital performance. Class material may include solo, duet, and group song work. Students will perform in a cabaret-style performance at the end of the course.
3:00-4:30- Play Production Workshop (grades 9-12) $485
Students will delve deep into acting and the theater making process by collaborating to create an original play under the direction and guidance of a professional director. This class will provide hands-on opportunities to create theater from their own ideas that will stimulate creativity, self-esteem, resilience, broader horizons and create a strong sense of community. This class will allow for reflection on what it means to be a theatre-maker and an active, engaged citizen in society. Students will present their work on the final day of the class to the community.
